Classic Lowndes Grove Wedding

Classic Lowndes Grove Wedding

Editor’s Note: Re-sharing this celebration from the 2017 archives.

Aimee and Thomas tied the knot at Lowndes Grove in Charleston, SC. Fox Events created a dream reception space on the grounds outfitted in whitewashed woods and natural rattans which mixed well with polished floral arrangements of creamy hydrangeas and blush-hued roses and peonies. / Images by Dana Cubbage Weddings.

Says Aimee, “There was something special about Charleston – the atmosphere of the city, being near the ocean and still having the charm of the South. There is no other place like it. Lowndes Grove really expressed that feeling and we knew it would create the ambiance we wanted for us and for our guests traveling. From the historically restored grounds to the never-ending dock – it was perfect.

I had my heart set on a blush dress. It was the very first dress I tried on, and I loved it. I tried on probably 25 dresses after that, but none of them measured up. The style was just unique enough, it was Monique and it was blush. I knew it was the one.

Favorite memory? Saying our vows – we had one of our good friends marry us. He added a little humor in, and it was just a genuine time that was perfect. We had some very meaningful toasts from our Best Man and Maid of Honor that both meant a lot to us.

Thomas is artistic and he created the marquee ‘K’ that was used on the dance floor (it was actually part of the proposal!). We also found some old vintage windows that were used for the menu and seating chart. These special touches really made the wedding feel like us.

Aimee’s advice? Having a great wedding planner (thank you, Lauren Fox) made the wedding day go off without a hitch and minimized stress. Remember on the day of that the wedding is about the two of you, and not anyone else.

The couple honeymooned in Turtle Bay on the North Shore in Hawaii.
