Classic Wedding in St. Louis

Natalie and Brian married at St. Peters Episcopal Church in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by a beautiful reception at the Old Warson Country Club. The space was flawlessly designed and decorated by Sara Fay Egan Events and dripping in exquisite florals by Jackson Durham. / Images by Liz Banfield.

Says the couple, “We had originally thought about doing a destination wedding in Mexico, but decided it would be more convenient to do our wedding and reception in St. Louis. Natalie is from there and had always loved Old Warson Country Club and St. Peter’s Church. With family and friends in St. Louis, Chicago and Dallas, it seemed easy to get to for all of our friends. The fall in St. Louis is normally BEAUTIFUL with sunny days and changing leaves. We decided it would be the perfect time for a wedding. Little did we know it would snow the night before and be freezing on the wedding day!

What was your vision for the wedding? We wanted something that was fun and elegant, but not too stuffy. Sara Fay Egan Events did a great job turning our vision into reality and people are still talking about how beautiful it was. We wanted the bar and dance floor to be the focus and did not want to have a formal seated dinner. We also wanted people to be able to stay and dance, so we had a surprise after party. I (Natalie) love flowers and wanted to incorporate pinks, greys and gold. We wanted people to enjoy the night and celebrate with us.

How did you meet? Brian and I met our sophomore year at Texas Christian University through mutual friends. We had known of each other, but didn’t hit it off until our first date. We went to a great Italian restaurant in Fort Worth!

Favorite memories?
Natalie: My favorite memories of the wedding day [are] getting ready with all of my bridesmaids and later having a short dinner alone with Brian during the cocktail hour. We got to sneak away and enjoy 30 minutes together and it was so nice to just relax before the party got started. We also got to try all of the food ☺

Favorite unique details:
Food stations: Most weddings in St. Louis are sit-down dinners, [so] it was fun to have something different.

Imo’s Pizza: We passed out mini pizzas from a famous St. Louis pizza place at the after party.

The orchid chandelier in the middle of the dance floor.

Custom monogram was used throughout the design, including stamped onto ice cubes.

Grand Bevy: Our photographer took a photo of us prior to the ceremony and they were printed on cocktails when guests arrived and ice [was stamped] with our new monogram.

Sara Fay Eagan Events built a huge flower wall for the backdrop of our photo booth.

The after party was a surprise to everyone. We brought in DJ Lucy Wrubel from Dallas and people stayed dancing until 2:30 a.m.!

Where did you honeymoon? We went on a ‘mini’ trip with my (Natalie’s) parents to Anguilla right after the wedding to relax for four days. We are leaving in May for Italy for 16 days and can’t wait! It is nice having something to plan now that the wedding is over.
