Says Lianne, “I had grown up visiting Nantucket with my family every summer and value it as my ‘happy place!’ After Danny proposed, I took him there to visit and he immediately fell in love with the tiny island, as well. There was something really romantic to both of us about the size of the island, we felt that it would make for a very intimate feeling for a wedding. We both love the ocean so as soon as we saw the house we knew we would want to be married there. We also felt that being on Nantucket would make for a really fun wedding weekend which we were able to fill with several different events. The weekend wedding events started Thursday night at Cisco Brewery, followed by a fun evening at the Chicken Box. On Friday evening our guests joined us at CRU for dinner and speeches. The memorable wedding took place at a private home on Saturday and everyone met on Sunday to recap the following night’s events at The White Elephant terrace for brunch. Now we have an excuse to go back and visit every summer!
Finding my wedding dress was my favorite part of the entire wedding planning process. I knew I wanted something light and flowy since we would be on the ocean and I knew I loved Mira. My wedding dress stylist was super helpful and knew what I was looking for right away. The moment I put on my dress I knew it was the one. I felt like it fit my body perfectly and would be the perfect fit for the Nantucket setting.
Favorite memories? Nantucket can be tricky with its weather, especially in June. Leading up to the wedding I had downloaded every weather app and they all said the same thing for our wedding day, rain. I don’t understand how it happened, but on the day of our wedding the sky opened up and the weather apps all read 74 degrees and sunny. I remember being with my friends getting ready and us all jumping up and down at our good luck. I was so happy, that I cried!
What was also so special for Danny and I was how much everyone bonded with one another. Danny and I both attended the same small liberal arts college and had the same group of friends, but never knew one another. We only met a few years after both graduating on the dating app, hinge, and knew it was true love. The fact that we had so many mutual connections, made the wedding weekend that much more special and intimate with few guests having to meet for the first time. It truly felt like one big family weekend. The entire day was so wonderful and the wedding itself was a dream but my absolute favorite part had to be at the end of the night when everyone gathered around the fire pits to sing and roast s’mores.
Advice? Don’t download weather apps leading up to the big day! Just kidding! My only advice would be to take everything in one moment at a time. Even though we had a full weekend with our guests, the time went by so quickly and I wish every day that we were back on Nantucket!
Favorite details? I loved having all of our friends on the beach with us the Friday before the wedding to play games and get to bond before the big day. At the wedding, I surprised Danny, who is a professional golfer, with the escort cards which were golf balls with a logo of Nantucket island and printed golf tees with the wedding date on them. Two of our band’s lead singers were semifinalists on both The Voice and American Idol which our guests thought was pretty cool! I had spent my summers growing up at camp in Maine, and my favorite part of the night was at the end of the wedding. Our caterer had set up “S’mores, sips, and fire pits” and the guitarist of the band played sing along songs while the majority of the wedding party stuck around to sit by the fire pits and sing. It was the perfect Nantucket night.
