Says Isobel, “I always dreamed about a timeless NYC wedding. I wanted a mix of pinks and natural greens for the flowers so they would pop nicely against the black and white of the bridesmaids’ dresses and tuxedos. We chose the Boathouse in Prospect Park because we loved the architecture, history, and location. We got our wedding cake from my favorite bakery – Ladybird Bakery in Park Slope. We had a chocolate cake with a fudge filling and clean white icing. It was decorated with fresh flowers that matched the table arrangements, arch, and bouquets. It was delicious! Our wedding was black tie optional to go with the classic/timeless theme. My bridesmaids wore black Jenny Yoo dresses and the groomsmen wore black tuxedos.
Flowers were very important to both of us. I think it really completes a wedding so we splurged the most on those. Many of the arrangements included heirloom garden roses, ranunculus, and dinner plate dahlias. The only thing we skipped was a photo booth because we couldn’t guarantee it would be outside (weather related) and there wasn’t enough space inside.
Isobel and Geoffrey’s Love Story: We met the first day of orientation at Muhlenberg College through mutual friends. After two weeks, we started dating and have been together ever since. After college, Isobel returned to school to follow her passion in nursing. We moved to Rochester, NY, where she attended the University of Rochester School of Nursing and now works in the neonatal intensive care unit. We decided to get married on our seven year anniversary 09/09.
Advice? Get a day-of-planner! We used Amy from Modern Rebel and it was the best money we ever spent. She was so kind, calm, and organized. She was on top of everything and we were really able to just enjoy the day. I will recommend her to everyone getting married!
