W will be 18 months old and I think he will be such a ball of fun for the session. He’s the silliest little guy who always has a smile on his face and never fails to make everyone around him smile, too. We’re so excited to take him back to the beach and have this magical time in our lives frozen and captured on film. Since New England spring weather can be pretty finicky, I’ve planned outfits for both chilly weather and warm weather. I wanted the patterns and colors to blend but not feel too matchy-matchy. Here’s what I came up with:
If the weather is crisp with just a gentle breeze, I’m planning on donning this V Neck Ruffle Top in Blue Seersucker (c/o Haley and the Hound) along with white jeans (old) and a classic pair of West Hampton Sandals in Platinum (c/o Jack Rogers). I love the detailing around the neck on the seersucker top – it’s flirty and fun but it’s still super comfortable.
If the weather turns chilly, I’ll be bringing along this lovely cashmere poncho (c/o Warm Magic) to stay toasty. I love the natural sandy color and it’s so incredibly soft, I know it will feel great. It also drapes beautifully so I’ll be able to stay warm yet still look chic.
If the weather is warm, I’m planning on wearing this Sleeveless Seersucker Ruffle Popover Dress (c/o Haley and the Hound) paired with the same West Hampton Sandals in Platinum (c/o Jack Rogers). It’s definitely a great beach dress – super comfortable and the neck ruffle adds just the right amount of detailing.
I’m planning on going pretty minimal with accessories. I’ll probably only wear my wedding rings and maybe this Trinidad bracelet (old, c/o Julie Aylward). And Essie’s Ballet Slippers will be on my nails.
My husband’s chilly weather outfit consists of a layered pullover sweater and chambray button-up (both Ralph Lauren, old) paired with soft blue linen shorts (Izod, old) and leather Sperrys. My favorite piece from this look is the Pacific Belt (c/o F.H. Wadsworth). It takes an otherwise casual beach look and gives it finesse and polish. The hand-stitched detail, full grain leather tabs and solid brass buckle make a beautiful combination and I love that this belt can easily pair with dressy shorts, jeans or a weekday suit.
For warmer weather, my husband will don a gingham button-up (Ralph Lauren, old) paired with linen shorts in a Nantucket red (Izod, old) and leather Sperrys. Again, my favorite piece from this look is the Snowbird ribbon belt (c/o F.H. Wadsworth). The crisp and bold blue and white stripes add the perfect amount of detailing and I’m impressed with the quality of the grosgrain ribbon – I may just have to borrow this beauty from my husband’s closet! Oh, and this belt has the option of being monogrammed which I always think is a plus.
What will our little guy be wearing? If it’s chilly, we plan on dressing W in a layered V-neck cashmere sweater and button-up with a pair of shorts (both Ralph Lauren). I’m also tempted to dress him in the birthday outfit that my mom lovingly hand-smocked for him which still fits … still deciding.
If it’s warm out, W will be in this sweet monogrammed jonjon (Petit Ami). Big thanks to my mom/GiGi for W’s darling clothes featured in this post – she certainly makes sure he’s the best dressed toddler around!
