Cassie and Matt tied the knot at the quaint Sconset Chapel on Nantucket. They departed in a vintage Land Rover Defender to arrive at their reception at Siasconset Casino which was classically decorated with a Tuscan twist by Fleur Events. Three foot tall olive branch centerpieces, natural candlelight, bamboo chairs and homemade Italian red wine all came together to create a romantic island night. Quite impressively, Cassie planned the majority of the wedding by herself, with the help of her mother. / Images by Charlotte Carey Photography.
Says Cassie, “Nantucket is naturally nautical but we decided to go with a classic Tuscan theme. Our venue was at the old Siasconset Casino which is currently a tennis club but the interiors dated back to 1901 and demonstrate old quality workmanship of trellis ceilings and vintage wood. The space is dark and cozy so we took the approach to classically brighten the spaces with warm whites and greys. Our chapel was located adjacent to the reception, a quaint interdenominational chapel, complete with stained glass windows, long white benches for pews and crochet-knitted kneels. The chapel is the most adorable place and exudes this feeling of comfort and peace.
Tell us about your dress. I really wanted something that felt classic yet modern, so I went with a Monique L’huillier dress with a chantilly lace top with spaghetti straps, tulle bottom and underlining blush tones. It was beautiful and well-fitted for the night’s theme. Cassie & Matt’s Love Story | We fell in love in Boston while both working and living life in our twenties. Our love for friends and family, good food, traveling and making each other laugh is what makes our special bond.
Favorite memories? Transportation to the chapel with my father in a chauffeured vintage Land Rover Defender convertible. I sat in the front while my dad enjoyed the leisurely car ride out to Siasconset. The chauffeur was barefoot and the day on Nantucket could not have been better – clear skies and 70 degrees. Taking our photos out by Sankaty Lighthouse with friends and family was breathtaking. The most serene, quintessential backdrop of the island. The spot felt nautical without trying too hard. Although there was some wind, that intimate time spent out there allowed me to embrace the day and take in what the day was all about – love and celebration. My first dance with Matt was to our favorite song, One Love, by Hootie and the Blowfish. It was practiced by our band beforehand and the live version felt surreal. Matt and I also enjoyed dancing the night away with friends and family on the dance floor. Dancing included crowd surfing, congo lines, limbo and break dancing.
Favorite special touches? The 3 foot tall olive branch centerpieces, homemade Italian red wine, Tuscan flowers and vases, bamboo chairs, candle pillars. Dessert included an ice cream carousel, complete with homemade flavors and waffle cups by the Nantucket Juice bar. Our cake was simply decorated with Tuscan leaves and petals.
Cassie’s advice? Be truly in love and live in the moment. Life passes by so fast and it’s our destiny that will guide us through the ups and downs with our partners. Every moment matters, so live life to the fullest and be grateful when you’ve found the one that looks at you as if the world has stopped.
