Kara and Zach’s summer wedding on Nantucket was a nautical dream come true. Following a ceremony that overlooked the coast, the couple’s reception at Dreamland Theater came to life with navy and ivory striped linens, rope knot table numbers and blush and ivory floral arrangements by Flowers on Chestnut. / Images by Rebecca Love Photography.
Says Kara, “We wanted our wedding to have a classic, nautical flair. In choosing Nantucket, having a water view was a must! The Dreamland provided exactly what we were looking for. An amazing view overlooking North Harbor for our ceremony (complete with two rainbows!) and a classic New England white-washed room with string lights hanging from 100 year old beams during our reception. It was magical!
Tell us about your dress. Oh boy! I tried on about 100 and picked the VERY last one. I knew I wanted something fitted, but envisioned myself in something simpler. My mom had another vision and encouraged me to try on this dress. It fit like a glove and when I came out of the fitting room, we all knew it was it!
Kara & Zach’s Love Story | We met online! From the minute Zach messaged me, we had great banter. He had the perfect mix of playfulness and maturity. He made it clear how special I was to him from the minute we met and has made me feel so loved ever since! Our goal was to have nautical elements without becoming kitschy. The navy and blue striped dinner napkins and fisherman’s rope knot table numbers, mixed with mercury glass votives and mono-floral arrangements provided the perfect hint of nautical while remaining elegant.
Favorite memory? It’s hard to choose! I think what made the wedding so special was having a destination for our 85 guests. Everyone was in on our wedding adventure for the whole weekend, which made us feel surrounded by love!
Kara’s advice? Stay calm and don’t sweat the small stuff. Even if little details get out of whack, at the end of the day, you will still be married!
