Amanda and Eric’s summer wedding in Southampton, N.Y., was a blue and white dream come true. The couple wed at St. Andrew’s Dune Church and a reception at Sebonack Golf Club followed. Missi Flowers and Jill Gordon Celebrate created a beautiful space centered around the stunning blue and white china plates that Amanda carefully sourced for the wedding. / Images by The Popes.Says Amanda, “We chose Southampton, because I was born in Southampton and lived there until I was five years old. My father has a house in Sag Harbor, and my stepfather belongs to Sebonack Golf Club; we felt that it was a good place for my blended family to feel like both sides had a significant tie to the wedding. The style of the wedding was classic and elegant. The main colors throughout the reception were navy blue and white. The main décor element was vintage blue and white china plates that we sourced from borrowed BLU. I had a very clear vision from the beginning of the process – I wanted white flowers, vintage china, dark wood chairs, and linen tablecloths. I think it all came together perfectly in the end! One of my favorite design pieces was the custom blue and white toile photo booth curtain. I was also obsessed with my Lily of the Valley bouquet.
Tell us about your dress. It was the first dress I tried on! I knew Pronovias was probably going to be the place I bought my dress; every magazine or scrolled on a bridal blog, the dresses I loved were always Pronovias. I told the sales assistant at Pronovias that I wanted a dress that was off-the-shoulder, lace, with buttons and a bow. My dress had almost all of the above! It was a boat neck that I altered to be off-the-shoulder. It was absolutely perfect, and I felt that it was unique, but also timeless.
Favorite memories? My husband worked in finance at the time (he just started his MBA at Tuck), but he is also an AMAZING musician who actually pursued his music for a year in his early 20s. During our reception, Eric played me a song that he wrote for me called ‘On Our Wedding Day.’ It was a truly magical moment. Another moment that sticks out in my mind is the moment that I did my ‘First Look’ with my father and stepfather. Eric and I waited to see each other until the church; however, I had an amazing moment with my father and stepfather before our ride to the church. During the ceremony, they both walked me down the aisle.
Amanda & Eric’s Love Story | We have known each other since we were twelve years old. We both attended the same school growing up — Eric started in Kindergarten and I started in sixth grade. PJ, Eric’s younger brother, and Andrew, my younger brother, were best friends, and their friendship is what brought Eric and I together. In the spring of 2008, both of our families went to Cabo San Lucas for spring break. My stepfather owns a house in Cabo, and he invited Eric’s family over for a day of fun in the sun, riding jet skis and ATVs. We became fast friends and spent much of the time left on the vacation together. After our time in Mexico, we remained friends for years. When Eric began studying at New York University, he helped me plan a New York City birthday weekend with all of my closest friends. On the night of my twenty-second birthday, Eric realized that he wanted me to be his girlfriend. However, I needed more time. After a few weeks, I could no longer say no to a man I was falling in love with, and I agreed to be his girlfriend on May 5, 2011. Eric told me that he loved me at my sorority formal only a few weeks later, and I said it back to him. We have said, ‘I love you’ every day since. Eric proposed on January 2, 2016 under the stars in Cabo San Lucas. Eric’s family, as well as my sister, brother, and stepfather were there to celebrate after he proposed. Cabo was the first place we became friends so it was a fitting place for the proposal. On the night that Eric proposed, I saw a shooting star, and I wished that we would be engaged within the year. I got my wish sooner than I ever imagined!
Amanda’s advice? Enjoy every second of the day; it goes by way too fast. Eric and I had our Rehearsal dinner on Thursday night and on the Friday before our wedding we invited all of our guests to a cocktail party. We got a chance to say hello to everyone and that allowed us to spend the time at our reception dancing the night away (not just greeting people). It was the best thing we could have ever done! The couple honeymooned in the Maldives.
