Summer Wedding at the Legare Waring House

Chris and Meaghan’s wedding at the Legare Waring House in Charleston, SC, was a summer dream outfitted in shades of peach, baby blue and blush. Pure Luxe Bride and Wildflowers Inc worked their magic to create a truly sweet and oh so Southern fête. / Images by Dana Cubbage Weddings.

Says Meaghan, “We have always lived Charleston and knew it was the perfect place for us to get married! The Legare Waring House matched perfectly to what we wanted our wedding to be … natural, Southern, and just like we were hosting a summer party in our own back yard.

In college, we used to regularly stop at peach stands along I-85 when visiting each other, so using peach as one of our main colors held special meaning.

I loved a specific dress, but found that it was just too much on me. While searching for similar styles, I came across Astrid and Mercedes. I loved it the second I put it on! The low back and big bow are perfectly sweet and Southern, and there is a gorgeous floral print on the fabric that gave it something extra. It was also the dress that fit best with our wedding venue and style.

My mother refurbished her veil for me, and I wore jewelry given to me by family. My ‘something blue’ was a pair of earrings from my grandparents who, unfortunately, could not attend.

One of our favorite things was having a first look. We were a bit unsure leading up to the day, because we’re typically pretty traditional! However, it was amazing to get to see each other and take the pressure off of ourselves. It made the moment more intimate and special. Otherwise, getting ready with our bridal party and closest family was the best! It was wonderful to see our best friends make new friends and reconnect with old ones. We had a great time together and it set the tone for a really fun night.

Our ceremony cross was made by my father-in-law, and we displayed pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days.

Chris & Meaghan’s Love Story | We met in college. We have so many great memories of sorority and fraternity functions, tailgating, and exploring together. Chris graduated in December of 2012 and moved to St. Louis, so we were long distance for a year before I graduated. Then I moved to Texas. Chris proposed 6 months later, and I moved to St. Louis with him. After a 2 year long engagement (thanks to long distance planning!) we came to our favorite place to get married. We’ve [been able] to do some travel with his job, and are loving living in Charleston right now!!

Meaghan’s advice? Just relax as much as possible! Honestly, something at some point will go differently than planned. Just go with it, try not to get too upset, and enjoy your engagement and wedding! Easier said than done! Also, know the area you’re getting married in. Charleston is a hot market for weddings, so we had to extend our engagement and book extremely early for some vendors. Do some research so you can get the vendors you want! Booking early decreased our stress a ton, because we got all of our first choices of options and vendors. Hiring a planner was also a huge help. Not only did they help reign in our vision and plan a beautiful and smooth event, but they handled communication with all of our vendors and all logistics of the day. Such a stress reliever!

The couple honeymooned in Antigua.
