Says Kaitlyn, “We met in Rhode Island at Providence College and have always enjoyed the beauty and being near the water. One of my favorite items was my bouquet because it inlcuded a locket with photos of Ryan’s Dad and my Papa, who have passed away. There was also a piece of one of my Papa’s dress shirts around the flower stems. I was obsessed with our flowers overall and especially loved the flower crown that my niece Nora wore … briefly 😉 My veil was borrowed from my best friend and bridesmaid, Kerri. The pearl bracelet I wore was my Nana’s.
Upon first trying on my dress I really liked it but knew I wanted something more simple. Yet, when I caught a glimpse of the back as I exited the dressing room I just knew [it was the one], also when I came out my Mom cried. Kaitlyn & Ryan’s Love Story | We were very close friends while attending Providence College. Our junior year we discovered my family had been vacationing in Vermont and staying right down the road from Ryan’s family home in Manchester. That winter, we went on a ski trip together in Canada and the rest was history.
Favorite memories? The ride over alone with my Dad was very special, holding hands and listening to all of our favorite songs (Eagles, Steely Dan, etc.) Seeing Ryan as I walked down the aisle for sure, holding his hand the whole time. The wedding ceremony felt like an out of body experience, we were over the moon happy, indescribable. The whole bridal party and family belting out Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” as we traveled over to Castle Hill was hilarious and fun. Stealing away some alone time just Ryan and I, before the reception began was amazing. It’s so hard to pick because there were so, so, so many. But, another real favorite was when my cousin, also bridesmaid, Michaela, played her acoustic guitar and sang Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ for everyone.
Kaitlyn’s advice? Take it all in and enjoy! It goes way to fast. And just be in the moment and don’t worry about anything the week before, just relax.
