Katherine says, “Jon and I spent a lot time considering a true island destination wedding. But, more than anything, we wanted our friends and family there to celebrate and lengthy travel would probably prohibit that. Cape Cod seemed like the next best thing – It’s a drive-able destination!
The Cape at any time of year can have fickle weather; to alleviate added stress of weather issues (for us and for our guests!) being inside was important, but we didn’t want to lose the ‘Cape’ feel. We chose Wychmere Beach Club because you are literally on the water, but the nearly floor-to- ceiling windows keep you from any too hot, too cold, rain, wind or other New England weather elements.
The room was big enough to accommodate our guests, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was just right: Relaxed Elegance. That became our over-arching idea when planning the details. Nice, but relaxed. We both prefer comfort! It was really important to us that each of our guests enjoyed themselves. We may be center stage, but the party is about the guests! We’re pretty plain, so it wasn’t about a designer dress for me or a top notch suit for him, it was about the guest experience in an atmosphere that fit our personality.”
