Editor’s Note: I was kindly sent several products featured in this post – all are designated with “c/o” – in exchange for writing about them. It’s thanks to wonderful sponsors like these that Classic Bride is able to keep running! All editorial and opinions are my own.
While J&I have finished designing the nursery, we keep coming across things that feel like total necessities that we overlooked earlier. Here are a few items we’ve picked up in the past few weeks that I can’t imagine thinking we could live without:
1 | Door Silencer
I came across this genius idea on Pinterest and immediately started searching on Etsy for a stylish version. Luckily, I found The Wright Cottage on Etsy (the shop proprietress, Emily, is pregnant, too and due sooner than me!), and after chatting with Emily, she made me the cutest door silencer (c/o) ever in blue and white striped seersucker with white ribbons. It matches our nursery to perfection and we’re hoping this helps our little W sleep even more peacefully.
2 | Tranquil Turtle
I am obsessed with the Tranquil Turtle c/o cloud b. Even if we weren’t having a baby I think I’d love to have this little sea creature! It emits the most soothing sounds (ocean waves and a tranquil melody) and creates the warmest and prettiest undulating wave motions on the ceiling that make you feel like you’re underwater – it’s magical! I mean, if it soothes my husband and myself to sleep, I can’t wait to see how Baby W reacts to this sweet little swimmer.
3 | Solly Baby Wrap
I knew we needed some kind of wrap to carry our bundle of joy but I was just so disappointed with the boring styles I had seen. Then, thank the Lord, I came across the beautiful selection that Solly Baby Wraps offer. I immediately gravitated toward the chic nautical vibe of this Natural & Grey Stripe baby wrap (c/o) and honestly, if I’m this excited about a product, I know it means I’ll use it a lot so I can hardly wait to wrap up little W and carry him around in style with me! And thank goodness Solly has video tutorials for different carrying methods/wraps in addition to the printed booklet they provided – videos always make it easier for me! I also just have to say how much I love companies that not only make beautiful items but stand for beautiful causes and Solly does that so well. They donate $1 of EVERY wrap purchased to help make a safe birth for a mother around the world. You can read more about the cause, Every Mother Counts, here.
4 | Moses Basket
We purchased a modern-styled bassinet to have in our bedroom for W in those early months but I still wanted to have a classic Moses basket on hand and I love this blue cable knit Moses basket we chose c/o Rosenberry Rooms. What I love most is that I can have him resting in this in my office while I work (well, hopefully!) and it’s just so easy on the eyes – I love a hand woven basket and the classic cable knit and gingham trimming is just the icing on top! It also matches his nursery color palette perfectly. 🙂
5 | Nursing Poncho
Since I’m planning on breastfeeding and I tend to be pretty modest, I knew I would want to have some kind of stylish covering for those times I’m out and about and it’s just not possible to duck into the car or a place that offers privacy. I have a few wool ponchos that will be great as the weather gets chillier but I knew I’d want to have a more lightweight option and that’s why I love this grey/white stripe nursing poncho c/o Cover Me Ponchos. It’s chic and I’m glad that I won’t feel like I’m hiding in a tent while breastfeeding. 😉
6 | CRU
Give me some grace and hold your judgment on this one. I fell in love (and so did J’s mom!) with this crazy delicious wine from Trump Winery when J&I were living in Charlottesville, Va., last year and have been craving a glass (or a bottle, whatever) since the day I found out I was pregnant. It’s aged for over a year in bourbon barrels and it has the most indulgent taste. I was so excited to receive a box of this yumminess from J’s mom a few weeks ago and I was tempted to pack a bottle in my hospital bag to celebrate W’s arrival but decided it could wait until we came home with our little one. I’m not going to go crazy with it because I am trying to breastfeed but a few tiny sips here and there after dinner will bring me a bit of joy that I missed during my pregnancy. Bottoms up!
7 | Monogrammed Bloomers & Tissue Box Cover
You didn’t think you’d get through this post without something monogrammed, did you? 😉 You know I love something 10x more if it’s monogrammed and that love has become even more intensified when it comes to baby things which is why I’m completely smitten with the gorgeous creations from Sew Sew Swell by Delaney Rolfe. I’m crazy for this adorable pair of seersucker monogrammed bloomers (c/o Sew Sew Swell) – are they not the cutest?! Those little dinos on the sides are just the cutest and I can’t wait to see Baby W crawling around in these in a few short months!
I also wanted a monogrammed tissue cover (c/o Sew Sew Swell) to use on Baby W’s changing table and I decided to have it monogrammed with our married monogram as I’ll probably use it on my vanity later. I think using a married monogram in a nursery is a really sweet and unexpected touch and can we just all collectively appreciate how much prettier that tissue box is with its own customized cover?! It makes me so happy and that, my friends, makes it an essential in my book! 😉
