Intimate Preppy Restaurant Wedding

Intimate Preppy Restaurant Wedding

Ashley and Kyle wed at the stunning Spring House Restaurant with an intimate gathering of family and friends for a truly heartfelt celebration. Botanica Flowers & Gifts outfitted the venue with Kelly green and coral floral arrangements that complimented the venue perfectly. And I love that Ashley’s sorority sister decorated their beautiful sugar cookie favors. / Images by Red Boat Photography.

I wanted something beautiful, that I felt beautiful in, but that was more towards simple and comfortable. The moment I put this dress on, it was exactly what I was looking for. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. The material on the bottom was so flowy and fun, and the waist hit at exactly the most flattering place. My mom was with me and up to this point, we liked pieces of dresses, but not the whole. With my dress, each piece was exactly what we had been looking for. I felt beautiful and I knew Kyle would love it.View More: and I both wanted the same feel for the wedding from the very beginning. We were looking for somewhere with enough beauty and character that the few personal touches that we wanted to decorate with would be all that was needed to make it a memorable day. As soon as I saw Spring House in downtown Winston-Salem, I knew it was exactly what we were looking for. I felt like it was the perfect mix of class and Southern charm. We also loved the fact that they had a gorgeous courtyard where we could have the ceremony and an amazing Library Bar with blue walls and cool seating for the Cocktail Hour, and the sunroom was a perfect space for our whole group to have dinner. The fact that it was all available in one location made it so relaxing and enjoyable for us and our family and friends. The part that put it over the top was that the staff was super helpful and accommodating from day one through the last minute.

My absolute favorite memory was when I first walked out and saw Kyle at the ceremony. I had not seen him in his dress uniform before and seeing him up there waiting for me was the best feeling ever. Plus, when he added ‘forever’ to the end of his ‘I do,’ I think I melted into a puddle of happiness. When I look back on that day, I also really appreciate the part of the day leading up to the wedding. I was leaving North Carolina to move to Washington state with Kyle just one day after the wedding, so I really enjoyed having that whole morning to do things with my mom. She came with me while I got my hair and makeup done, and it was nice to have that time just with her before I was set to leave.

Our favors were decorated sugar cookies that were made by one of my sorority sisters. Not only were they gorgeous, but I loved that one of my friends had made those for us.

Ashley & Kyle’s Love Story | Kyle and I met in Nashville, Tenn. He is in the Army and was stationed not far from there, and I was in town for a bachelorette party for one of my sorority sisters. It was a Saturday at lunch time, and my friends and I were waiting on a ride back to our hotel after a tour, and decided to go into the BB King’s Blues Bar while we waited. We ended up standing beside Kyle and his friend, and it’s all history from there. We actually only met for about an hour that day, but when he asked for my number, we never stopped talking. We got to know each other over the next 7 weeks before he came to visit me in NC for the first time. We were able to see each other about every 2-3 weeks for the next few months, and then he got moved to Washington state. We both knew very early on that this was forever, so it was a little shock to some of my family when I wanted to marry this man 8 months after we met, but we knew what we wanted. When you find real, true love, you don’t let that get away. It’s the kind of love that makes you wish everyone could find it, the kind they write real love songs about, the kind that makes you thank God for every decision either of you made that put you in the exact location where you met, the kind you move across the country for (because I did and it was so worth it).

View More: More: most special part of the day, besides ending up married at the end of it, was that the people we love could be there. Kyle is from Oregon and I am from North Carolina, so no matter where we decided to have the wedding, there would be people who needed to travel a very long distance. There were friends and family who traveled that far, and that’s more than we could ask for.

Ashley’s advice: The biggest piece of advice I could give is all about the vendors. At this point, you already have the man, so you don’t need to worry about that part. Just make sure that you find vendors that you really connect with and who care about what they do. When I look back on my big day, I think about how wonderful the people were that were involved. The staff at Spring House were so sweet and beyond helpful. From the very beginning, I worked with one of their event coordinators, Elizabeth, and she was so easy to work with. It really makes everything so stress free when you have other people that care about your day like you do. We also found a wonderful Pastor to officiate the ceremony. He made the planning part of the ceremony so smooth and after the wedding, our friends thought he was a family friend because he fit in so well. Also, I’m convinced that our photographer was God’s gift to me for our wedding day. Katie and I clicked from the very beginning. Pictures are very important to me, but it’s still not something that you want to be super overwhelming to work into the day, because there is so much going on. Our photographer was so relaxing and sweet on the big day, and the pictures couldn’t have turned out any better. I’m not afraid to admit that there were even times when Kyle and I were taking pictures alone that I almost forgot she was there. She was just doing her thing, and let me tell you, those are some of the best pictures because she was able to capture us just being ourselves. Overall, I didn’t have to spend any of my day worrying about details, because I knew they were being taken care of.
