CB Style File: What to Wear for Engagement Photos

Editor’s Note: Re-sharing this great guide to engagement style!

I’m so tickled to have Morgan, of Sprinkle of Glam blog, back with us today! I’ve admired her style posts since she started blogging and always thought her outfits would translate perfectly to preppy engagement sessions which sparked an aha! moment – so I asked Morgan if she’d share a bit of her styling thought process and share her top tips on what to wear for engagement photos! Enjoy!

Hello, hello! I am Morgan of Sprinkle of Glam blog. There is a lot of pressure when it comes to engagement photos. You want to perfectly capture this season of your life. There is no need to stress when it comes to picking out the perfect outfit. Here are my top tips:

Tip No. 1

Be yourself! Wear an outfit you feel confident in and that feels like you. Taking photos can feel a little unnatural, if you feel confident and comfortable it will show in the photos.

Tip No. 2

Try to avoid the matchy-matchy look with your man. You want to wear something that coordinates but is not overly done. Make sure you both look like you are going to the same place. You do not want two wear a ballgown and your fiancé wear jeans.

Tip No. 3

Wear an outfit that is timeless. Trendy clothing may be popular now but you do not want to look back at your engagement photos and regret your outfit.

Tip No. 4

Don’t be afraid to express your style! Personally, I have a very bright wardrobe full of Lilly Pulitzer shifts that have become my style staple.

Tip No. 5

Accessorize. Whether it is a classic hat, fun clutch, or even your puppy, use accessories to show off your personality.

Tip No. 6

It is not just your outfit that matters but also the location you take your photos. Work with your photographer to choose a location that is meaningful to your fiancé and you. Maybe it is a café around the corner, location of your first date, or the farmers market. Dress to match your surroundings.

Hope y’all found these helpful for planning your engagement photo outfits!

I really like this bag. A LOT. I love what it says.

  2. That’s a good idea to wear something that you feel confident in. If you are self-conscious, it can only hurt your chances of having a good picture. You want these pictures to turn out well. Having a meaningful place for your pictures is nice, too. We were thinking of doing it along this river pathway that we walk along all the time.

    • Love the idea of choosing a meaningful place, Anita!
