Preppy Nautical Yacht Wedding

Ashley and Kyle share a love of boating so they decided not only to go with a preppy nautical theme for their summer wedding but to rent an 80′ yacht for their reception in Beaufort, NC. The couple included classic nautical touches including rope-inspired favors and blue and ivory striped linens at the reception. Vibrant floral arrangements by Sandy’s Flower Shoppe along with tropical-inspired food displays by Seaside Sensations created a tailored and cheerful vibe. / Images by Red Boat Photography.

View More: Ashley, “We knew we wanted something on the water as we are avid boaters and wanted to incorporate a nautical theme into our wedding. Kyle’s parents own a waterfront development in Beaufort, NC, so it was basically a free venue! Since we funded the wedding ourselves, free sounded AWESOME.

It was only the second dress I had tried on, but the details in the lace blew me away. It’s like the lace was custom made for THAT dress. It was so gorgeous I bought it on the spot.”

View More: Moment? The moment I walked down the aisle. I’m usually not the type of person to show a ton of emotions, but I was so overcome with excitement and realization that I was about to marry my best friend that I just started bawling my eyes out as I was walking down the aisle with my dad. I wasn’t the least bit nervous as my focus was 100% on my husband-to-be. It was almost like it was just the two of us alone in that moment. It was surreal.

View More: & Kyle’s Love Story | We met while attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. We were both in the School of Business majoring in Business Management. We met through a mutual friend. We went out on a group date and have been inseparable ever since. We are very different in many ways but it’s almost like our differences compliment each other like yin and yang.

View More: leaves us with some advice: Do not be afraid or embarrassed to ask or accept help! You will most certainly need it unless you just happen to not have a full-time job and have a Type A personality. Don’t let the little details and nuances of wedding planning come between you and your fiance. Take a step back and realize it’s not the end of the world and know your wedding day will not go 100 percent as you had planned. Be mentally prepared for your wedding day to not go as planned and understand that you will likely be the ONLY person that realizes it.
