Charming German Countryside Wedding

Hanna & Jannes had a lovely summer wedding at Gut Mönkhof in Lübeck, Germany. The couple leaned on their love for the countryside as their wedding inspiration and incorporated vintage chic styling to compliment their natural surroundings. / Images by Ashley Ludaescher

Hanna’s dress was Oberti from the 2014 Glamour Collection from Pronovias. The two-layer shoulder length veil was purchased from Brautmoden Laue (where the dress was also purchased). Says Hanna, “I did not want a typical A-line wedding dress with glitter and tulle. At first I didn’t want to try the dress on but the employee at Brautmoden Laue finally managed to convince me to try it. Once it was zipped up, I knew that this was my dress – the noble lace, the sweetheart neckline, swiss dot tulle and the perfect fit. It was very unique but still classically beautiful – my dream dress!! The bridesmaids wore matching one shoulder navy dresses and the flower girls wore cream coloured dresses and flower crowns.”

A few months later, we put the relationship to the test, traveling to the other side of the world and spending three months together 24/7. After this, we knew we wanted to always be together. On a warm summer evening on the beach in Naples, Fla., on 21.06.2013, I asked Hanna if I could always make her morning coffee for her. She answered ‘yes’ and opened a box with a coffee cup and a ring box. I got down on one knee and asked (with a trembling voice) if she would marry me and a second yes came from her lips.

The bride put together welcome bags with some emergency hangover cures for the next day. The bride’s mother sewed super sweet canvas tissue holders for the guests’ tears of joy during the ceremony. The bride and her friends created a very well stocked candy bar for the guests to snack on all day long. Every guest was given their own mason jar glass which they were given the next morning at brunch. The mason jars were ordered from the US. The ladies got homemade jam made by the groom’s mother and the guys were given cigars.

The 3-tier pink ombré ruffled cake was from Emma’s in Hamburg.

Insight from the couple: “It could not have been better. After a year of planning, the day come together even better than we had imagined it. For me, as a bride, the planning process was wonderful and so much fun. Even three months after the wedding day, it is hard to let go of wedding planning. The day itself, and also the whole weekend was so filled with love, warmth and joy – it was incredible to have our closest friends and family all in one place and celebrate our love together. We just enjoyed our wedding day so much, and it goes by so quickly! Fortunately, we have our wonderful photos and memories to always remember and relive the amazing day.”
