Danielle and Zach’s pink and white June wedding at The White Elephant Hotel on Nantucket is nothing short of prep perfection! The groom’s charming rope-inspired cufflinks hit the perfect nautical note! / Images by Katie Kaizer Photography.
Says Danielle, “Having spent many summers on Nantucket with my family, the island was a retreat from reality and a special place we all shared many memories. Zach too joined in our tradition and fell in love with the island, sharing the same affinity for the amazing place that is Nantucket. After Zach proposed, it was a given that Nantucket would be the perfect place to celebrate our wedding day.
We first met our photographer, Katie Kaizer, for engagement photos on Nantucket a year before the wedding. We were thankful to have met right before our move to London for Zach’s new position. Our photo by the famous compass featuring London, 3,612 miles away, turned out to be a favorite. With the help of our family, friends, and fabulous vendors, planning the wedding from across the pond was seamless and our day was all that we dreamed of.
Mark Holland-Leggieri at the White Elephant made sure that all ran smoothly. We spent the week leading up to the wedding with our family and friends on the island. Sharing this magical place with them was a gift to us. The ceremony was held on the White Elephant lawn overlooking the Nantucket harbor. We were wed under an arch of pink and white roses on the most picturesque June day, the summer solstice, with clear blue skies and a warm sun shining down on us. We were blessed to share this moment with our closest family and friends in this perfect intimate setting.
It’s true that sometimes what you’re looking for is right in front of you … Zach and I met during our last semester as seniors at Boston College. We shared many mutual friends but it was only during the last few months at school that we were formally introduced. Soon after, we started dating and with job positions awaiting us in New York City, we continued on our path together. Five years later, we were married on Nantucket, a special place in both our hearts.
We shared our first hour as husband and wife taking photos at Brant Point and joined our guests following the cocktail hour on the lawn, featuring Nantucket Reds, a White Elephant signature drink. The White Elephant deck was beautifully adorned with hues of blush pink, grey, and white featuring my favorite bloom, the peony. Soiree Floral perfectly captured the soft romantic feel I had dreamed of. Although the grey lady of Nantucket initially served as an inspiration for the color scheme, she was nowhere to be found on our wedding day!
One of my favorite island shops to frequent is Sweet Inspirations, the Nantucket Chocolatier. A signature sweet and a favorite of ours, chocolate covered cranberries, were selected as our wedding favor. For those departing the island by ferry, we also shared the tradition of ‘tossing a penny when out you ride’ when rounding Brant Point. This was our DIY favor, given in hopes of ‘bringing them back on another tide.’ We were truly blessed to have shared this momentous occasion in our lives surrounded by the ones we love in the place we love most.
