Black Tie Wedding on the Upper East Side

Black Tie Wedding on the Upper East Side

Lara purchased her dreamy wedding dress on a whim from Saks and it may be the best spontaneous purchase I’ve ever seen. She and her husband, David, threw a marvelously elegant wedding at The Harold Pratt House on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. / Photos by Farnaz K Studio.

lara-113Seeing Lara in her dress for the first time, David was caught completely off guard, in the best way – it was his favorite memory of the day!

lara-003lara-059-EditSays Lara, “We picked The Harold Pratt House because it was romantic, timeless, and elegant. A former private residence on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, it was quintessential New York. And because it wasn’t a traditional wedding venue, it allowed us to design an event unique to us. An intimate ceremony in the round downstairs, followed by cocktails in the library upstairs with a 3 piece jazz band, then to a sit down dinner in the ballroom, finishing with a band and dancing back downstairs…

I couldn’t stop smiling after I put it on, so I knew it was the right choice. lara-217 lara-234 lara-244We incorporated a favorite quote from ‘As You Like It,’ threading it throughout our ceremony, the programs, and the engravings inside our wedding bands. The roof of our Chuppah, which was decorated with beautiful bright orchids and tea light candles, was draped with our grandfathers’ prayer shawls.”

lara-248Lara and David’s Love Story
We met at work, at the corporate offices of Saks Fifth Avenue. Though I swore off dating anyone I worked with, David won me over. Best decision of my life.

Lara and David honeymooned in Morocco for two weeks.
