I’m excited to share with you the incredible 9-day road trip I enjoyed in May with S, a lovely French friend of mine. I loved meandering through the French countryside dotted with charmingly sleepy villages, having fun spotting the occasional pheasant or lamb on the edge of the little towns. Our first day out, we visited Fontainebleau where Napoleon often resided …

In fact, it was on the horseshoe-style staircase pictured above that Napoleon gave his farewell speech right before he was exiled to Elba Island. We also visited the teensy-tiny town of Mennetou-Sur-Cher. It was incredibly quiet and we enjoyed walking around, snapping shot after shot of the gorgeous stonework, the weathered shutters and the incredible ivy that seemed to grow just about anywhere and everywhere …
