FOR SALE | Props For A Tennis Engagement Session

Editor’s Note: The images in this post, all by Sam Stroud, are from a former sponsored shoot I styled.

I had such a fun time styling this preppy tennis themed engagement shoot in Charlottesville, Va., and was delighted when Southern Bride agreed to feature it in 2016. Fast forward a year and I’ve decided it’s time to part with many of the props I sourced for the shoot and I figured I’d let my dear readers know first as some of you may want to plan a tennis engagement, too! (Send photos if you do! 😉 )

Nantucket Red Folding Chairs

These were just perfect to create a vintage/traditional spin on sideline chairs. The patina of the chippy wood and metal added a great dimension to the landscape. I am happy to sell these two as a pair but, in fact, there are four chairs, if you’re interested in the full set. I purchased the four chairs at a brocante along the French border several years ago while I was living in Europe. The four chairs are in excellent vintage condition – they all fold flat and have metal legs with a wooden planked seat and back. As the paint is peeling a bit from age, you can clearly see that the chairs had been painted yellow at some point as you can see hints of yellow beneath the peeling red paint. I personally love this patina as it hints at the history and allows you to wonder about the past. You can see additional photos here.

Price for 2 chairs: $290.00 + shipping
Price for 4 chairs: $490.00 + shipping

Antique Leather Bound Books

This set of three leather bound books conjures up images of bygone days. I purchased the set at an antiques fair in Germany while I was living abroad. All three books are in superb vintage condition and certainly add an air of richness to a well-appointed bookcase. You can see some additional photos of the books in this post.

Price: $195.00 for the set + free shipping (in domestic U.S.)

Pair of Vintage Tennis Racquets

What I love most about these two racquets is the rich coloring – the camel and mahogany tones easily evoke an ivy league aesthetic. They are both in great vintage condition and both racquets come with their original racquet presses which help keep the original form and prevent warping. The top string on the Spalding racquet looks like it was re-strung by the original owner at some point but I found that alteration to only add to the charm.

Price for 1 racquet: $35.00 + shipping
Price for the pair: $60.00 + free shipping (in domestic U.S.)

Antique Silver Loving Cup Trophy

A classic beauty! I purchased this antique loving cup trophy at an antiques market in Tongeren, Belgium, while I was living abroad years ago. It’s in wonderful vintage condition and while it would adorable in a tennis themed engagement, it would also be a stunning centerpiece vase at a wedding holding an arrangement of ivory peonies, hydrangeas and tulips. The top “lid” easily comes off to transform it into a vase. You can see some additional photos of the trophy in this post.

The engraved inscription reads:
P.D.S.A. Pageant Challenge Cup
Morris Dancers
1934

Vintage French Champagne Cooler

I currently have around 20 vintage French champagne coolers available for sale (you can see the variety here). They were all privately sourced by myself throughout the French champagne country while I was living in Europe. I am happy to sell them individually or in bundles. I think they’d look lovely lining a long table at a wedding reception filled with peonies and ranunculus! All are in excellent vintage condition – no rusting or holes! Just a little worn from all the loving use they’ve received in France which has given them a wondrous patina. Most measure around ~10 inches tall but they do vary. If you’re interested in the dimensions of a specific cooler, just e-mail me.

Price: $75.00 each + free shipping (in domestic U.S.)
