Magical Nantucket Wedding at Galley Beach

Gresham and Stephen wed in early autumn at the ‘Sconset Chapel on Nantucket followed by a magical tented celebration on Galley Beach. Outfitted in an array of cheery pink, ivory and green, the event was picture perfect thanks to Nantucket Island Events and Sprout Flowers. During the night, dancing spilled onto the beach beneath the moonlight – beyond romantic! / Images by Mark Crosby for Zofia & Co. Photography, second photographer Stacey Doyle.

Says Gresham, “I grew up vacationing in Nantucket and have dreamed of getting married there my whole life, it’s my happy place! I love the beach and I have endless cherishing memories of time spent with my family on the island and I wanted my wedding to be yet another one. The style of our wedding was simple, yet fresh and elegant which is exactly what I wanted because that is how I view life on Nantucket.

I looked at several places and tried many dresses on before I found my dress. I didn’t even find it, the lady helping me brought it to me and I tried it on, took it off, and kept trying it on. After going back to it several times, I just knew it was the one!

Gresham & Stephen’s Love Story |We met on a kickball team in Dallas through mutual friends. We flirted at every game and Stephen asked me out. The rest is history-we dated for a little over a year, got engaged and married six months later! After the ceremony, Stephen and I went with our photographer all over the island for some pictures. I really enjoyed that time spent immediately after the ceremony with each other to pinch ourselves and realize we were actually married! During the reception, the dance party suddenly moved out onto the beach by the shore so we were literally dancing in the moonlight-which by coincidence happens to be my favorite song and was the last song played!

I wanted the wedding to be as personal as possible, so I incorporated our family into it in many ways. For example, my aunt, a florist in Texas, did the flowers, I hand-painted all of the paper suite, and my grandmother did the calligraphy for escort cards. My husband’s family is a 4th generation Coca Cola distributor so we added several Coke touches to the reception. Mini Coke bottle, personalized for each guest, served as escort cards to their table. The groom’s cake was Coke flavored with mini Coke flavored cupcakes around it.”

Gresham’s advice?Don’t fret about anything, let everything roll over lightly and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Enjoy the planning process, the engagement period as a couple, don’t worry, and most of all love each other the whole way through!
