Hello! I am Morgan, previously of Sprinkle of Glam blog, and now part of the Jackson Morgan Southern Cream team. I currently live in Nashville, Tenn., with my fiancé, Dave, and puppy, Maverick. My sweet friend, Sarah, asked me to share some details about my upcoming spring 2018 wedding in Charleston, SC.
Before we became engaged, my fiancé and I had many discussions about the wedding. My fiancé is from Florida and my family is from Tennessee. We knew either way, one family would end up traveling for the wedding so we might as well pick a fun location we both love. I went to College of Charleston for college and fell in love with the city. When Dave visited Charleston for the first time, he instantly wanted to move. Coercing him into a destination wedding in Charleston was a no-brainer.
When I was in college, I interned for an event planning company. On a site visit with my internship I first saw Lowndes Grove, in that moment surrounded by the Ashley River and spring blooms, I knew that was where I wanted to get married when that time came along.

There are so many perks to the venue, the charm of the plantation home, a water front view, southern oak trees around every corner, large enough space for both the ceremony and reception, and lastly and not nearly as romantic enough restrooms for a full event. The venue is set up well for the logistics of a large event. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating of our requests.
We only looked at one other venue. We just had the “gut” feeling that this was where we will have our wedding. It was wonderful to envision walking down the aisle and where all of our guests will celebrate our marriage. It gave me butterflies just imagining the special day.
For timing, we decided on spring. Spring in Charleston is nothing short of magical. We were fortunate to have our top pick of dates and were advised by our event planner to chose the end of March.
My advice for brides starting the planning process, first look at your budget and determine what you can afford. Try to find meaningful locations that are important to both your fiancé and family. Have a list of questions for the venue including logistics questions such as: Do you require a planner? How much parking do you have? Can you accommodate handicap guests? Can I bring in my own venders? Most venues will allow you to place a hold on a date before committing so you can talk it over with important people in your wedding.
