Preppy Chesapeake Bay Wedding

Anastasia and Michael wed in October at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Inspired by nautical elegance and a love of the Bay, their day included handmade sailboat escort cards and table numbers, a chic coastal decorated lounge area, and a fun “messages in a bottle” guest book that would be read upon their first anniversary. One of Michael and Anastasia’s favorite memories was having their wedding party arrive by boat to the reception and then their departure the same way that evening as newlyweds. / Images by Hamilton Photography.

Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00003 Says Michael, “I’m from Washington DC, and Anastasia is from the Baltimore area, so we both love the beauty of the bay. We figured we would pick a place equidistant between us [for the wedding], and when we first visited St. Michael’s we knew immediately we were going to have our wedding there. The boats and general nautical atmosphere inspired the decorative theme for our wedding.Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00052What were your favorite special touches from the wedding? Having the bridal party arrive on a boat, and both of us leaving together on a boat. Chesapeake Bay Maritime museum was also a beautiful setting for us, and allowed us to have both an outdoor and indoor (tented) environment.

We had little bottles available during the wedding where guests could write us “messages in a bottle” for us to open on our anniversary.

Introduced by a mutual friend, at a hole-in-the-wall bar. Nothing exciting, but we’ve been together ever since. Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00037 Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00001 Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00027

Favorite moments? Our entrance and first dance, and then having my parents dance to the song they danced to at their wedding – my dad was diagnosed with cancer and wasn’t supposed to make it to our wedding.

Hamilton-Photography-Coastal-Maryland-Wedding-00028Any advice? Pick a time – 24 hours before the wedding, 2 days before, etc – and both agree that if anything goes wrong after that point you will do nothing about it. Something will go wrong inevitably, and while it will seem enormous at the time, it won’t matter at the end of the night. Stressing about it will only ruin the moment.
