It’s all about honeymoons today! I’m spotlighting some of my favorite spots in the world to give you a little inspiration if you’re trying to decide where to go! Enjoy!
Martha’s Vineyard. As you guys know, I can’t get enough of this island. Its vibe is chill yet preppy and it has this incredibly nostalgic feel to it.
Morocco. I think Marrakech would be a great honeymoon destination for an adventurous couple craving something different from the common Caribbean resort vaca. My experience visiting Morocco was definitely a thrill for the senses … from the colorful cone-shaped spices for sale in the streets to the lively square that comes alive at night with pop-up food stands to navigating the maze of a market filled with vibrant handmade wares – each day was a new adventure. Read my travel guide to Marrakech here.
Paris. It probably doesn’t get more classic or romantic than a Parisian honeymoon. Wake up to breakfast in bed, go for a stroll in the Tuileries, museum hop … and then shop. Paris is always a good idea. Check out my 3-part travel guide series which includes some overlooked destinations in the City of Light: Part One | Part Two | Part Three.
Mont St. Michel. Such a relaxing & peaceful vacation. You could easily pair this with a roadtrip along the coast of Normandy (Honfleur is gorgeous! Read about that French road trip here.) or to Brittany. Both regions are candy for the eyes and will have you not wanting to return home anytime soon. 😉 Catch up on my travel guide to Mont St Michel here.
Marfa, Texas. If you’re craving a desert escape but also want a heaping dose of art then Marfa is your place. Filled with modern art galleries and food trucks, this is an urban oasis in the middle of the gorgeous Chihuahuan Desert. You can stay in a teepee at El Cosmico or in Elizabeth Taylor’s old suite at the El Paisano. Curious about this little artsy desert town? Check out my travel guide to Marfa.
Loire Valley. My parents keep talking about planning a biking trip through the Loire and every time they bring it up, I’m reminded how utterly amazing that valley is … I may end up crashing their biking trip! Filled with chateaus and castles a plenty, this region harkens back to a time of kings and knights and fairytale romance. It’s basically made for a honeymoon! And don’t think you’re limited to renting a car and driving around … you can boat, take a hot air balloon or bike like my parents! Check out my travel guide to the castles of the Loire Valley here.
Bavaria. J&I still say Bavaria is the most beautiful place we’ve ever been. It really did feel like we had entered into a fairy tale world when we visited – the still emerald water of the Konigssee … the pristine hills and mountains dotted with waterfalls so crystal clear you want to scoop it up and drink it … it’s all such a magnificent backdrop and it’s all shrouded by the dark history of the 1940s. I think that oil-and-water mix is what makes the land even more intriguing. Check out my travel guide to Bavaria for all my top tips and what you shouldn’t miss (plus a few things you won’t find in the tourist books!)
And here’s a glimpse from my own honeymoon 7 years ago. J&I took a roadtrip to Seaside, Fla., and loved everything about it:
