Editor’s Note: I’m sharing another gem from the archives today and I know you’ll want to thank me! 😉
I discovered photographer Ashley Ludaescher a few years ago when J&I had just moved to Germany. She was a fellow ex-pat living in Germany and blogging at Chasing Heartbeats and I always enjoyed our e-mail convos about traveling and flea marketing in Europe. You may remember I shared her own gorgeous East Coast German-American wedding on CB awhile back. Well, Ashley is now behind the lens photographing other couples’ gorgeous weddings and I’m so excited to share one of them with you today. I’m not sure I can adequately express just how much I’m in love with this bride’s retro-meets-modern look – I swear she could be a double for Lana del Rey – you’ll see! / Images by Ashley Ludaescher.
Says Ashley, “Dilan and Nima married on a rainy August day at the Soho House Berlin surrounded by their family and friends who had literally traveled from all over the world to celebrate with them. They wanted to incorporate their Kurdish and Persian heritage into their celebration and did so with a Persian ceremony and dancing along to Kurdish drumming followed by a live Persian band. The traditional aspects of the day were followed by an amazing live show from Patricia Meeden (who was on the first season of The Voice of Germany) singing pop music covers and a DJ played until the wee hours of the morning. Their celebration was truly a unique blend of cultures and traditions at one of the chicest wedding venues in the city.”
Dilan found her Pronovias dress at a Berlin wedding boutique and had the dress altered to fit her style. She added a deeper V to the back side of the dress and the large bow (which I LOVE). Additionally she had a unique veil made for her. I think she looked absolutely stunning and I love their retro, classic style with a modern twist.”
From Dilan and Nima, “We planned everything by ourselves without any professional help. The hardest thing for us was to combine our Persian and Kurdish roots with our urban lifestyle we grew up with (Berlin-London-New York). Most importantly, we wanted our families and friends to truly enjoy our day with us. The bride’s highlight was the groom’s speech and for both of us seeing our families and friends from all corners of the world dancing and celebrating all together from the beginning until the very last second. The groom’s highlight was to see the bride in her dress for the first time during our first look.”
Dilan and Nima included a traditional Persian ceremony in their wedding.
