Sarah and Scott chose Cape Cod as their joyous wedding venue as it’s been a favorite vacation destination for the two since they started dating. Their ceremony was held at a West Harwich church followed by a Dennisport reception at the Sea View. Their classic affair was balanced with a casual, care-free vacation vibe and lots of beautiful seaside details (including gold-leafed oyster shells!). / Images by Sarah Jayne Photography.
Says Sarah, “The Cape has been a special vacation destination for Scott and I since we started dating, and now we spend most weekends at Scott’s parents vacation home in Harwich. We feel so lucky to have had this amazing day with all our loved ones in one of our favorite places in the world! Our wedding ceremony was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich and our reception was held at the Sea View about a mile down the road in Dennisport. As for the style, we wanted a classic and elegant feel while also holding onto the relaxed and care-free vacation vibe that washes over us whenever we drive over the Sagamore Bridge on the way to the Cape!
I knew I had found the dress when I left the store and continued to think about the “one” for the rest of the week. I did have an appointment already scheduled at another store and wanted to go one last time to feel more confident in my decision and, although i found some nice dresses, none of them made me feel the way I did in my dress.
Sarah + Scott’s Love Story
Scott and I met when a mutual friend brought me to Scott’s house in college for a small party. It was only a matter of time before we were spending all of our time together.
One of my favorite special touches from the wedding was oyster shells which we cleaned and painted with liquid gold leaf. Scott and I enjoyed our time going to various oyster happy hours around the Cape to gather the shells, including the ‘Oyster Bar’ at the Port restaurant in Harwich Port where we made new friends at the bar who helped us collect all the oysters shells! Since this is one of our favorite spots I asked our photographer to make a pit stop near the restaurant to take a few bride and groom shots in front of the Oyster Bar sign on our wedding day. Another reason this was a favorite special touch was because of the fun girls night I spent with two of my best friends and bridesmaids who helped me with the DIY portion of painting the shells!
It’s so difficult to choose a favorite memory as the entire day, from the time in my beachfront bridal suite with my closest ladies, to dancing to the last song of the reception with my husband was unbelievable. I do remember stepping off the dance floor for a moment towards the end of the night and when I returned I just stopped and looked around at all my loved ones who were all in one place, traveling from various places to be there for us, having a great time on the dance floor together!”
Sarah and Scott had an incredible honeymoon in Italy; they stopped briefly in Rome and Florence but spent the majority of their time on the Amalfi Coast in Maiori and Positano.
