The right note

I was inspired by Melissa to share our song choices for during our reception. While we’ve hired musicians for the ceremony and cocktail hour, we decided to compile and create our own CDs for the reception. As of now, we have about 3 hours worth but are still looking for a few more songs.

Tonight, {on our way to see Nights in Rodanthe – who else has seen it so far?? What did you think???? We were a bit disappointed … }, The Way You Look Tonight came on the radio and we both looked at each other and agreed it’s a must-add to the list.

Thought I’d ask my dear readers for suggestions as well, since we’re down to the wire now:

What’s your favorite sweet love song?

  1. It’s too hard to pick a favorite, but here are a few great ones that might fit the general vibe of the ones you’ve listed:
    1. “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” by Blood, Sweat and Tears
    2. “Your Song” by Elton John
    3. “Such a Way” by Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers

    I can’t believe you’re only 3 weeks away–so exciting! I know it will be beautiful (visually and emotionally)

  2. Love disney, so I love Disney love songs:
    Beauty and the Beast
    A Whole New World
    Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

    Also, From This Moment by Shania Twain.

  3. I am a playlist junkie!
    I saw you had COldplay on there, how about ‘Til Kingdom Come – its beautiful. Also, sort of in that genre, how about Sweetest Thing, by U2. I think they would both blend into your playlist rather nicely.
    Ooh – in the bratpack genre, also check out “More” by Bobby Darin.

  4. Thank you 🙂 I love all the songs you’ve chosen!

  5. I don’t know if it’s really romantic- but I’m a huge Peter Sarstedt fan.

  6. Some lovely romantic tunes which I love:
    I Put A Spell On You – Nina Simone
    Let’s Stay Together – Al Green
    Higher – Jackie Wilson
    Something – George Harrison
    You Do Something To Me – Paul Weller
    The Very Thought Of You – Ella Fitzgerald
    Only You – Harry Connick Jr

    Oh and oh so many more, too many to list!!

  7. Kathleen Kathleen

    I would add:
    I’ll Stand by You – Pretenders
    These Arms of Mine – Otis Redding
    Please Forgive Me – David Gray
    Baby Mine – Bonnie Raitt (it’s a Disney Song)

  8. We had a similar list as yours. We also had:
    Follow You, Follow Me- Genesis
    Can’t think of any others!

  9. Oooh, I love shared playlists!!! I like all your selections. I can’t think of my favorites right now, but I’ll come back if I remember.

  10. I would add “Everything” by Michael Buble.

  11. I would have to agree with “Everything” by Buble… I also love “True Companion” by Marc Cohn.

  12. Kenzie Kenzie

    Look into Matthew Ryan, and Matthew Barber. Especially Barber. 🙂 Also, Have It All by Jeremy Kay, and All Cause Of You-The 88.

    Hope to help!

    I’m big on music, so if you like these and want any more suggestions, feel free to email me!

    You have so many of the same songs that we did! Our first dance was to Bobby Darin’s “Beyond the Sea”.

  14. ‘the book of love’ by peter gabriel is super mellow, incredibly beautiful and heartfelt…if not for the reception, it would be great for your first night together (as man and wife)

    happy dancing!

  15. I walked the aisle to;
    “Forever” by Overflow,

    We signed the register to;
    “All I need” by Stu Larsen,

    And my hubby and my first dance was to;
    “Rest of My Life” by Unwritten Law

    little more up tempo than perhaps to your complete taste. But I know you’ll love Stu Larsen, he’s amazing!!
